Does premium petrol work better than the regular one?

You may have heard claims that the use of top rate premium petrol will do incredible things for your car’s performance, like increasing and enhancing mileage, and better protecting the engine. Despite its top rate fee, premium grade petrol offers no more energy than ordinary petrol. It is only a better fuel when positioned in an engine specially designed to run on it.

Hence, it is not necessary to shell out extra money for premium fuel unless your car manufacturer advises that it’s an absolute requirement.

If you’re uncertain whether top-class fuel is essential to your car, seek advice from car experts and your car manufacturer. Unless your vehicle is on the “premium fuel required” list, you are safe to use regular fuel.

Does it improve overall performance?

Premium fuel technically doesn’t enhance your car’s performance. It does, however, prevent your car from performance loss if your car is supposed to run on it. What does that mean? Compared to premium fuel, lower-octane fuels won’t allow your engine to pick up immediate speed in situations calling for speedy acceleration. Since your premium fuel-requiring engine does not have as much power with decreased-octane fuels, this results in slower acceleration.

The overall performance loss is sizable in turbocharged petrol engines, which have become more and more famous in recent years. It is something you will notice if you have a heavy foot and speed up swiftly while changing lanes at motorway speeds. But if you speed up reasonably, the lack of power won’t be as noticeable.

Premium prices don’t always mean premium results. There are other ways to keep the car in an excellent state, providing a good level of performance. Take your vehicle for regular servicing, upgrade your garaging efforts (keeping it squeaky clean and locked, to benefit your car’s health) and learn how to do minor fixes in the car on your own.

And be sure to take your car for services according to your mechanic’s recommended service schedule.

Another suggestion is to have your car covered by the best car insurance like comprehensive car insurance, which offers a high level of cover.

Taking all these measures will make sure your vehicle stays in an excellent state. When you buy a car, it becomes a precious part of your life, and you want to make sure you are the best care provider for your vehicle. But if premium fuel is unnecessary for your car and it is burning a hole in your pocket then consider switching to the regular one.
